So I came up with a new form (to my knowledge)
of code last night.
It has obvious cryptographic applications, and
fascinatingly can also be applied to programming language. <span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" id=".reactRoot[26].[1][2][1]{comment10200748843951620_65725352}.0.[1].0.[1].0.[0].[0][2]">
beauty of this is it's affinity for randomness. <span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" id=".reactRoot[26].[1][2][1]{comment10200748843951620_65725352}.0.[1].0.[1].0.[0].[0][2]">Any symbol can be used,
and the values, while still somewhat a defined set, have an almost
infinite number of variations available. (Hint1)

I need your help to see how "unbreakable" it is, so here is this baby's first foray into the wild...

These kinds of things can command high prices, and I'd like to have an idea of it's integrity before shopping it around!

So all of you who have any skill or interest in this area, please try and crack my code!

It's in English, a quote from a philosopher who lived 2500 years ago in Asia, and it's one sentence. (Hint2)

Here's a pastebin of it so you can copy and paste in a text editor to better have at it : http://pastebin.com/Rv4HLHVX

Have fun!

I'm typing these words to you on the monstrosity you see above, the Chinese Google Nexus 7,
the dual core A10 processors and a Mali 400 GPU wielding, Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II.

That was a mouthful!

This thing handles anything I throw at it with ease.
1280x720 resolution, 1 Gb. of Ram, and a tab under settings that lets you vary the processor speed up to 1.5 ghz (comes pre-rooted).

I'm really starting to question Apples' continued supremacy in the mobile platform market with the advent of high end, slick, and much more adaptable Android devices.

USB, micro SD, & HDMI ports.
Ability to run a full unity desktop version of Ubuntu 11.
Of course I'm on a custom ROM.

Cost? $125. Shipped.

At first, I wasn't very fond of Android. My experience with the OS was on low end cell phones, with little ram or the ability to transfer apps to an external SD. Apple never had this problem due to manufacturing the hardware the OS is installed on, maintaining hardware standards and of course the ease of mainly single button operation.

My main argument against getting a tablet was that it could not do what my computer could do. With Android 4.X on quality hardware, this is no longer valid.

So how is iOS going to stay relevant? I barely even touch my iPhone now. Google Play is quicly catching up to the variety of the APP store, and actually exceeds it in variety, if not number, of Apps.

Sure, you can jailbreak, and I have on all my iDevices, but the basic hardware costs hundreds of dollars more, for similar internal components and specs, on a locked down system with expensive proprietary accessories for things like A/V out or reading an external SD card.

iOS is Slick, and the original. I wouldn't be holding a tablet, or one this nice more likely, if Apple didn't blaze a trail and open a new digital market with the iPhone and iPod touch.

Let's face it though, Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs, and Apple has, historically, floundered without it's co-founder. Can it continue to innovate (faster & better than Google)?

Don't get me wrong, I still think Macintosh is the only operating system to run on a pc or laptop. Pc's and laptops are going the way of the flip phone though.
I just picked up an Acer 15" from around 2009, Intel dual core, for $75 from a Unique thrift store. It's running OSX 10.5 Leopard right now.

The big machines still have their place though. Photoshop touch is no where near as powerfull as Lightroom or CS5. iMovie and the various Android equivalents cannot replace Final Cut Pro or Premiere. I haven't even run across a mobile equivalent for Motion or After Effects.

Hint to Apple: if you were busier making something truly revolutionary, like you used to with the mouse, or iPhone.... Or like Google Goggles or Leap Motion... Maybe you wouldn't be fighting worldwide patent battles, and instead be pouring all that Legal $ into Research and development, while your competitors try to scramble and catch up and push out a similar, quality equivalent.
When it comes to iOS, they have.
You should take it as a compliment.

One thing's for sure, competition is great for us!

Next post, my home made remote shutter switch for my Canon SX40 HS running Chdk. With video!

As above so below good people
Peace

Turn around is quick, and demand is high. As a jack of all trades, and master of some, there are sooo many avenues to pursue. If only someone that traveled worldwide, often, needed a cultural ambassador that can arrange all things and open closed doors to them hired me I'd have a dream job.

Until then, check out http://www.disturbingnewtrend.com and feel free to send me a friend request @ https://www.facebook.com/antar.morrar .
Much love community.051R15http://www.blogger.com/profile/04209255626322961552noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567824568514627503.post-75920200977403307842012-02-20T06:40:00.005-06:002012-03-02T15:24:11.978-06:00How 1¢, a torx screwdriver, and some gumption saved me $400-$600 (Macbook Pro repair) So, I shot a music video for an awesome artist with a famous guest appearance on my new Canon SX40 in 1080p full HD (will post when fully edited).

So far, I have mainly been using the camera for photo's, and have been greatly pleased with it.
Editing photos with PS, Lightroom and Aperture have been great on my HP or Toshiba hackintosh, even iFrame format movies.

1080p though? Not a chance :( ... The HP has an unlocked Nvidia ion card but a single Atom processor, the HackShiba is dual core duo but only Intel x1600 graphics...

What to do? I didn't want to tell him he needed a new editor, and what editor wants to sit at someone else's equipment for 12 hours straight?

About a year ago a mentor and friend of mine gave me a 17" Macbook Pro with a bad case of graphic card failure (ATI), which unlike the same problem in Nvidia Mac's doesn't come with a free repair (Nvidia, not Apple, picks up the cost).

Apple would, however, replace the whole Motherboard for a "flat" fee of $400. Third parties wanted $700 and up for a new logic board. Newer than mine Macbook Pro's are going for about $600 on Craigslist.

The picture above is how the screen looks after I removed the Ati kexts or when started in safemode (safemode has no sound, wifi or qe/cl though).

A regular start led to "the white screen of death".

I had gotten the thing to work intermittently a few times fsck'ing the #3LL out of it in single user mode, but that was unreliable.

So here's what I did, and I'm sitting here typing this to you now on the MBP.......

You need a small phillips and a T6 Torx screwdriver, patience, steady hands and a little prayer doesn't hurt either. The offending Ati chip was missing a bunch of thermal paste, and a little loose from the board I theorized.
After seeing some guy on youtube, with the same Laptop and problem take a heat gun and reflow the chip in his kitchen, I strongly considered this... The lack of a heat gun and concern about rendering the MBP completely useless if a mistake were to happen stopped me though.

I could still use the thing as a server and play music on it if nothing else!

So, I :

1.) Took a penny, washed all dirt off in alcohol, let it dry.

2.) Stuck it here (heads up for luck) --->

3.) Re-applied thermal paste to the chips....

4.) Buttoned her up and... voila! Nothing happened... Turned it on and the same problem... Stuck her in a corner and left her until...

5.) I turned it on again a few hours later to transfer a file and BAM! It's magic, tadaa! Once again, a simple solution for an expensive problem.

With the crossed swords of my SX40 on CHDK and this MBP, I come to slay the twin dragons of Winblows movie maker and poorly chosen slideshow music x)
CMOS sensor and the all new DIGIC V, running the Canon Hack Development kit, CHDK (found HERE ) which enables taking RAW photos make this better than any DSLR to me.
The lens with 35x stabilized optical zoom takes excellent macro and telephoto pictures, Full HD 1080p, iFrame and 720p as well as VGA slow motion, and these are just some of the available options for video.
This thing is a beast!
Check out my new flickr photostream in the right column, or HERE -all the photos were taken with this beautiful tool.

Please note: if anyone is interested in working on the capability to vary the fps while shooting video with the SX40 or other Canon cameras, please contact me by leaving a comment. This is a project I'm working on singlehandedly at the moment as none of the devs at the CHDK forums are interested in the enhancement... Unfortunately CHDK focuses almost exclusively on picture taking enhancements, as opposed to video enhancements like the Magic Lantern firmware
( http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Magic_Lantern_Firmware_Wiki ) for 5D's and similar DSLR's.
The M.L. community have made some progress to vary video framerates, but are not quite there yet.

And yes, those are the craters on the moon!
(the original photos' size is 4000x3000, but flickr image size is set to 1024x768 @ largest resolution so the images won't display as sharply as the originals)

Yes I love my HacShiba! Gonna be testing FCP X (which I hear nothing but bad things about) and the new Motion (which I hear nothing but good things about) when I buy the program (soon).

If anyone is interested in a tutorial for the Canon CHDK or how to Lionize your own HacShiba, drop me a line in comments and I'll be glad to write one up.

The only tutorials on the net for the a205 are for Leopard and with custom distributions, so to get Lion running I had to try a few different things so everything would work.

Hope your projects are just as successful!051R15http://www.blogger.com/profile/04209255626322961552noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567824568514627503.post-58532355923472782482011-07-20T16:28:00.000-05:002011-07-20T16:28:20.083-05:00Hackintosh = AlchemyWhat is Alchemy? Essentially, it is taking a variable of +1 and making it +2 with mostly the original ingredients. As above so below. All molecules are just @ different evolutionary stages of organization, otherwise every molecule is basically the same stuff organized in a different pattern. Hence the physics defying +1=1+1 . Such is the virtually virus free, super stable hackintosh. You take good hardware and merge it with superior software and you get more than you started with, you catch my drift?
I see I've got pageviews from all over the world, part of what I was trying to accomplish was to allow those without the greatest resources to be able to get their movie making vision out.
If I've helped you install FCP on an unsupported machine and you've subsequently been able to produce a video that looks like the picture in your minds eye because of it, please post a link to it in the comments section!
Just wanted to show off the newest member of my hackintosh family, an HP Mini 311, with ION graphics! Yes, that means a clean final cut install, with no hacking required. Running 10.6.6. snow leopard and capable of handling HD! 3GB of DDR3 installed.
I'll follow with a complete how-to shortly. Any questions please feel free to ask, though I do believe LeMaurien19 has the clearest install guide in the community, with lots of tips and troubleshooting in the comments section.
W/ how toAs promised, here is my walk through on building a three operating system netbook, in this case the HP mini 1010nr. First, a video of my setup: XP, 0SX 10.5.8, Ubuntu Studio "intrepid"

Setting up Xp is easy, as it comes bundled with the mini. The hackint0sh is a bit more involved, and I used both a written guide and a youtube video to assist me.
The guide can be found here: Hp mini osx install guide
The video here: HP mini osx install video pt.1 of 2

Ubuntu Studio worked out of the box with the exception of wifi. The install was painless and was guided by a dialogue much like a Windows setup wizard. To enable wifi, I had to download these packages and all their dependencies from the Ubuntu repository on my hackint0sh:
1.) Network Manager
2.)Ndiswrapper

Install both packages in Ubuntu, and load the bcm43xx driver bundled with Ubuntu Studio. Be sure the packages are for your particular version! I run "intrepid" and had to use the packages for "hardy". They work just fine. Reboot and click on the new network manager app in your panel bar. If you can't see it, right click and choose "add to panel". Wireless should now be working.

Now for the Final Cut Studio install. This information is to the best of my knowledge found nowhere else on the web in a single place. It took quite some research. Your welcome :)

If you have FCP studio 2, you can go ahead with a standard install, just ignore the warnings of the requirements checker. FCP will hang though when launched so skip ahead to the hack.

If you have FCP studio 3, the requirements checker will not allow you to install at all. You need an easy to use program called Pacifist (google it), which will allow you to install Mac programs without the requirements check. Pacifist is also an optional application you can have installed while making your mini a mac if you use the version of Leopard suggested in the tutorial.

Once you've done that, it's time to enable the app to actually load and be useable. Open your applications folder in finder. Now, right click on Final Cut Pro and choose "show package contents". Open contents->resources->minisys.plist in any text editor. Now change these values: scroll down to AELMinimumscreenres and change the resolution value to 1024x600. Scroll to AELMinimumvram and change the value from 128 to 64. If you get any other warnings or it still hangs try adjusting the other values in the plist. Save the modified file and try out your FCP install!

This also works on real Macs that don't meet the minimum requirements to run the program. Speed is fine for me, and is actually faster than my old iMac was with render times! You may have to repeat this procedure to enable Motion as well. It works just the same, just modify the Motion plist.

Specs:
Hp mini 1010nr - refurbished
1.6 ghz intel atom proccessor
2gb ram
intel gma950 graphics
8gb internal pata ssd - win xp
8gb mini usb - ubuntu studio
16gb sdhc - osx 10.5.8
320gb 7200rpm external usb drive - osx 10.5.8 - used for video projects for the storage size increase and faster read/write speed

Note: If you are going to try this, make sure you have a copy of Leopard that you bought and own. I got mine with my real Mac. It is ethically wrong and probably of questionable legality to have the hacked version of Leopard used in this procedure unless it's used as a "backup" for your legally purchased version.

I hope this tutorial has opened up new creative possibilities for you with your technology. Feel free to post any questions or comments, and happy film making!

I'm known as 051R15, Alchemist and Metaphysician.

I was made aware today that I was NOT selected for a "dream" position with Apple computer.
Quite disturbing, actually, as I'm underemployed currently, and minimum wage is not a living wage at all, and it's looking like me, and my wonderful puppy Buddha, may soon be literally homeless.
Not to fear though! On doing the numerology for this blog, I ran into the number 555 - meaning a message of change that must not be ignored.

Welcome to Disturbing New Trend! Given the circumstances, my first true post will be a guide on how I got my technology to do exactly what I needed it to do despite a shoestring budget. Most of the electronics consumers buy off the shelf can be modified to do much more than the manufacturer originally intended.

Be on the lookout later today for my walk through on how I overcame the shortcomings of my main computer (an HP Mini 1000 series netbook) and hackint0shed it, triple booting XP, OSX Leopard, & Ubuntu Studio, and installed and successfully run Final Cut Studio 3 with performance equal to or surpassing a G5 desktop. There will be a video, edited on my box with FCP, to go along with it.
Note: It is possible for a Vista/7- Snow Leopard configuration, this is just my preferred configuration. XP and Leopard run nearly all programs and are have a more intuitive feel to me.

If I get positive feedback, I'll post a step by step guide in non-technical terms on how to easily jailbreak your iPhone iPod or iPad, and do great things with it like run emulators for Sega, Nes, or even Playstation 1. Even enable video recording and backrounding of apps for 3g devices!

Also, stay tuned as I detail my plan to turn an abandoned lot on the south side of Chicago into a garden home, with a yurt as the main shelter and completely powered by solar energy for only $5000 cost of land and all! I'm actively trying to raise the funds for this project as it would (*finally*) give me a stable place to live, and enable me to have a safe place to focus so I could attend school to further my natural talents and interests (and obtain a job paying a LIVING WAGE), and a workspace for me to develop technology that could potentially change the world for the better.

In 1990, who would have thought we would have hand-held devices that play music, allow us to watch videos and T.V., connect to a vast information network, and even play games? In 1990, these were all separate machines, together weighing well over 100 lbs. It's now 2010, and given the resources I'd like to put a personal ROBOT in everyone's hands in five years time. More on that once I have some sort of patent on the specs, or given adequate resources, even making the project completely open sourced and customizable. Time will tell.

I will also be posting my resume here, as I really want to work, and have some form of security.
I will also put out there that any person or company who would like to collaborate on my project for completely green living in the city (solar powered yurt on former abandoned lot, complete with edible garden) are welcome to participate. If a sponsor could help defer some of the cost I'd happily and with much gusto proclaim from the mountaintops the miracle of their product, and blog all day about how I use it.

Or maybe a professor from a prestigious research institution has a grant to study urban green living or cutting edge alternative energy technology and would like to help make such living possible by being part of my project? I'm statistic friendly, I can assure you.

This would also be a great low budget documentary project, I'd even help you shoot and edit the thing.
I'd like this Blog to be an open space for the expansion of consciousness and the realization of potential. Please, feel free to comment and offer constructive criticism on anything found herein.
This space will house my and hopefully many others' ideas and perspectives. Expect articles on everything ranging from martial arts to gardening, politics to spirituality, and, of course, technology.
